Information Overload is a major problem to anyone new to Internet Marketing and most ‘newbie’ marketers suffer from it at one stage or another.

I know because it has happened to me, and yes it has probably happened to you too.

The fact is that I am subscribed to so many other marketers lists that I recieve maybe 100-200 emails every day, sometimes more.

It would take me hours to go through all of these emails, which is time lost doing productive tasks and stopped me from moving forward.

On my computer I have numerous courses, ebooks, video tutorials, audio interviews and along with all of the daily emails, I felt as though I was being bogged down and staying focused was becoming a major problem. This in turn was making me fall way behind in my journey to online success.

I found I was trying to do a million things at once and I didn’t know which way to turn and which direction to go next.

So one day I just thought to myself, “enough is enough, this has to stop and I won’t let this get the better of me”.

I have come up with 6 simple tips to stay focused and overcome Information Overload.

#1 – Come up with daily, weekly, monthly, even yearly plans full of prioritized tasks and don’t be distracted from getting these tasks completed.

#2 – Focus on one task at a time and don’t do anything else until that task is completed. Remember, as my mentor Alex Jeffreys says “Don’t become a busy fool”.

#3 – Try to prioritze your time the best you can, even if it’s minimal. Remember, doing something productive is better than doing nothing at all.

#4 – Use a free Google Mail account for only subscribing to offers and free ebooks. This leaves your primary/personal email from constantly being clogged up.

#5 – If needs be, schedule only around one hour or so each day and nothing more to check emails.

#6 – Start unsubscribing from lists whose emails you never read, this will free up your inbox and your time. Then you can concentrate on the productive tasks.

So fast forward to today, I have become super focused, I am alot more organised, I have a plan of attack and my determination to succeed is greater than ever.

This way I am getting back on track, keeping things moving forward and I’m now heading in the right direction.

I can’t stress enough and urge you to stay focused and don’t let Information Overload get the better of you, like it did me and together we will succeed.

Thank you,

Lee Scott.

Hey guys,

It’s true!

You can get 3 FREE copies of Mike Filsaime’s MDC Monthly.

Best Internet Newsletter

Mike Filsaime is using a new way to spread the word.

He is not asking for any tell a friend of even an OPT-IN

He is experimenting with a new type of Social Viral Marketing that appears to get him backlinks to his site just for sharing the word.

Best Internet Newsletter

This seems to be the truest form of Viral marketing I have seen yet. It uses social media and blogs to get the “news” out about something rather than Tell-A-Friends etc.

But the main thing I want to share with you is that you can get 3 Kick-Butt copies of his latest newsletter and you don’t have to pay $89.00 to get it.

Just click the link below and it is yours Free!

Best Internet Newsletter

P.S. – Even if you THINK you are not interested in his newsletters (Which are pretty good from what I see) I suggest you give it a shot for 2 reasons. 1- You may be surprised at the quality. And 2- Wait until you see how he is trying this new viral marketing.

Thanks,

Lee.

A Valuable Lesson Learned.

After weeks of getting my blog running and looking the way I wanted, I only had one more “technical hitch” to solve.

My problem was that Gravatars were not displayed next to visitors comments but I eventually managed to correct this, only to discover that the Gravatars were far too large. Everything that I tried just didn’t work, so I decided to do a little more research on Google which lead me to a site and then editing my comments.php file.

I first of all copied and pasted the file source code into a Notebook document and saved it into a file named ‘leescottblog’. I then set about editing the comments file as instructed on the site I found on google.

The editing fixed my Gravatar problem but when I visited my site, somehow the comment form at the foot of my post had disappeared. I next copied and pasted the file source code saved in Notebook, but on my site the form was still missing. As I had just started commenting on other blogs and in forums I needed this solving as soon as possible to get comments and visitors to my site.

Just by luck I stumbled upon a site that was using the same theme as me and the owner had experienced the same problem. I was pointed in the direction of a great little plugin going by the name of ‘IntenseDebate’ that solved all of my commenting problems.

The plugin can be found at http://www.intensedebate.com. Here is a small statement from the plugin site – IntenseDebate Comments enhance and encourage conversation on your blog or website. Full comment and account data sync between IntenseDebate and WordPress ensures that you will always have your comments. Custom integration with your WordPress admin panel makes moderation a piece of cake. Comment threading, reply-by-email, user accounts and reputations, comment voting, along with Twitter and friendfeed integrations enrich your readers’ experience and make more of the internet aware of your blog and comments which drives traffic to you!

The plugin is also fully customizable and has a wide variety of options to configure such as blog settings, comment layout and you can also get comment widgets for your blog.

I hope this post provides valuable help for someone, if not now but sometime in the future.

Thanks

Lee.

First of all I want to welcome you to leescottblog.com.

Yes I can’t believe it myself, I have finally got my blog working correctly and looking the way I want it. It is such a relief that after weeks, if not months that I am finally here writing this first blog post.

My journey into the world of internet marketing began in early 2008, when before my daughter was born I found I had some spare time when I wasn’t at work.

So I began to do some research online looking for ways to earn some extra cash and this eventually lead me to internet marketing. Over the following months I began to subscribe to mailing lists, aquire free ebooks, software, video courses and some paid courses.

But once my daughter was born my spare time became less and less, to the point where my internet marketing activities were non-existent.

As my spare time became a bit more frequent I began my journey again and this is when I came across the name ‘Alex Jeffreys’ and boy am I glad I did.

I was already subscribed to the mailing lists of some of his previous students and knew first hand what he had done for them. I already knew that to succeed online I needed a mentor and when in November 2009 I began receiving e-mails notifying me that Alex was re-opening his coaching program, I couldn’t move fast enough to get on the course.

I am using this blog as my base to document my journey to online success under the guidance of Alex Jeffreys. I aim to post on a regular basis of hints, tips, what works for me, what doesn’t work for me and any other relevant information which I think can help you too.

In the coming months I aim to write an ebook and have a squeeze page for it to enter into JV Giveaways to start building my list. Also I want to start attending seminars to gain further knowledge and to meet Alex and my fellow students. Further along on the journey I aim to quit my normal job, do this full-time and to be running a successful business online.

Please have a look around my blog and your comments and suggestions would be most welcome.

So watch this space and join the jorney with me and remember “success is the only way”.

Thanks

Lee Scott.
